Today we rode our bikes to the ferry. Took the ferry into town.
Stopped by the First World Problems store to buy some pills for my first world problems. https://firstworldproblempills.aidsfonds.nl/
Saw a really bad bike crash involving a young mother and her two-year-old little girl. Called the ambulance. Everyone is taken into this woman's house as we are trying to handle this situation. Part of my brain is on emergency adrenaline fire and part of my brain is thinking "OMG. I'm in a rich dutch person's house and this house is amazing."
Discovered my Dutch under extreme stress is really great.
Lost my shit completely for about an hour.
Decided to put a note in the lady's mailbox to see if there is a way to follow up to make sure the injured people are ok.
Stopped by Baton on the Herengracht to have my favorite salad.
Talked to my friend Yvonne. Felt better.
Walked through the Negen Straatjes crying.
Saw a really cute hat and hand printed top. Bought both.
Reminded myself how bouncy little kids are and that both the mother and the little girl will be ok.
Started to get my shit back a little bit.
Walked over to the Spiegelstraat to check out the Banksy exhibit. One of 100 identical unsigned Banksy prints cost 37,000 euros.
Stopped into an antique shop and bought antiques that are 350 years old.
Stopped in the Starbucks for a iced latte and a huge bag of free coffee grounds for the garden.
Walked back up toward the Muntplein from Rembrandtplein. Saw an anti-Israeli/pro-Palestinian protest parade that shut the Rokin down.
Walked up to the Nieuwmarkt then through the Zeedijk navigating a sea of about half a dozen stag and hen do people in ridiculous costumes.
Took the ferry back home. All my cats asleep in the garden in the shade as if nothing has happened.
Typical Saturday afternoon in Amsterdam.
